We have quarterly Community Circles, which are all school assemblies. In collaboration with PBS and Student Council, this year's focus is on our school mission: putting the child first, culture, core, collaboration. Our first community circle focused on the core. Ms. Speich lead the whole school in a breathing and meditation exercise.
We celebrated our second community circle by celebrating our school culture. Soar, our school mascot, greeted everyone as we gathered in the school gym for an all school morning meeting. Ms. Wolcott's 1st Grade class led us with our school song. Students from grades 3-5 were selected to come up and greet the whole school in their home languages. We had students who spoke Albanian, Tagalo, Mandarin, Spanish, and Korean! Ms. GG talked about how important it is for us to continue to practice being safe, respectful and responsible. Mr. Huggins recognized students who are participating in the Mile Club. Lastly, all our students and staff got brand new t-shirts to celebrate our school! A BIG thank you to our Parent Teacher Organization for getting us the t-shirts, they look awesome!
Our third community circle focused on collaboration. Ms. Stuesser collaborated with Ms. Jacobsen to create a school wide activity where all students and staff got to color an eagle heart which were put up around the entire school as well as putting together a giant puzzle piece. Student Council presented on the different roles and responsiblities at Stephens that work together to make our school a great place to be. Ms. Haugen and a 5th grade classroom led the school in a song about community and working together. Mr. Huggins celebrated all the runners in the Mile Club. Soar, our school mascot was ever present cheering everyone on. We closed our community circle out with the whole school singing our school song.
